Draft for legal review
Terms of Use
Version 2026-10-21
These terms set out the rules for using StrikeHike and for StrikeHike accounts. This is a draft for review by the owner's lawyer.
1. About StrikeHike
StrikeHike is a website that shows information and analytics about Indian index and stock options: prices, option Greeks, implied volatility, open interest, an expiry calendar, and a payoff calculator for positions you enter yourself. It is run by an individual, the owner, not by a company. In these terms, “we” means the owner and “you” means the person using StrikeHike.
By using StrikeHike you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it.
2. Who can use StrikeHike
You must be 18 or older to use StrikeHike and to create an account.
StrikeHike is meant for people in India. If you use it from another country, you are responsible for following the laws that apply to you there.
3. Information and analytics, not investment advice
StrikeHike and its operator are not registered with SEBI as an Investment Adviser or a Research Analyst. Those registrations are made under the SEBI (Investment Advisers) Regulations, 2013 and the SEBI (Research Analysts) Regulations, 2014.
StrikeHike provides information and analytics only. It is not investment advice, and it does not publish research reports on securities. It gives no buy, sell or hold calls, no price or stop-loss targets, no trading calls and no model portfolios, and it makes no claims about returns or performance.
Pages that show live, delayed or demo market data are information and analytics, not education. Content is called education only when the price data it uses is at least 30 days old, as SEBI requires for educational use (SEBI circular HO/47/17/12(11)2025-MRD-POD3/I/11107/2026 of 8 May 2026, in force from 1 July 2026).
Options carry a high risk of loss. Any decision about your money is yours. If you want advice about your own investments, speak to an Investment Adviser registered with SEBI.
4. Market data
Until a licensed market data feed is connected, StrikeHike shows simulated demo data. Every page that shows it carries a “Demo data” label, and demo data is never presented as real.
Market data can be delayed, incomplete or wrong. We do not promise that any figure is correct, complete or current, so check it independently before you rely on it. Historical or delayed data does not show what will happen next.
5. Accounts
Creating an account. You can create an account with an email address and a password of at least 12 characters, confirmed through a link we email to you, or with your Google account. Before the account is ready, we ask you to confirm that you are 18 or older, to accept these terms and to agree to the Privacy Notice.
Your responsibilities. Keep your password private and do not use it anywhere else. An account is for one person. Keep your email address current, and tell us at the contact below if you think someone else has used your account.
Suspension. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts StrikeHike or its users at risk, or belongs to someone under 18. Where the law allows, we will tell you why.
Deleting your account. You can delete your account at any time on the Account page, and it is removed straight away. A minimal activity log (sign-ins and account events, with times, IP addresses and browser details) is kept for one year and then erased, to meet the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025 (rules 6(1)(e) and 8(3), which apply from 13 May 2027). The Privacy Notice explains what is kept and why.
6. Acceptable use
Do not:
- try to break, probe or get around StrikeHike’s security, its request limits or its bot checks;
- overload StrikeHike, or use automated tools to reach it beyond normal personal use;
- copy market data from StrikeHike to share it with others or to sell it;
- present StrikeHike’s content as investment advice, or use it as part of an advisory or research service;
- use StrikeHike for anything unlawful, or to harm anyone.
7. Licences
The StrikeHike source code is licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 3 (GPL-3.0). Written content on the site, such as these pages and the engineering reports, is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0), unless it says otherwise. Market data, and the names and marks of other organisations, belong to their owners and are not covered by these licences.
8. No warranty and limitation of liability
StrikeHike is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any loss that arises from your use of StrikeHike or your inability to use it, from your own financial decisions, from delayed, incomplete or wrong data, or from technical failures. Nothing in these terms limits a liability that cannot be limited under Indian law.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at [city: to be confirmed by the owner] have exclusive jurisdiction.
10. Changes to these terms
When we change these terms, we publish the new version here with a new version date. If you have an account and the change affects what you agreed to, we ask you to review and accept the new version the next time you sign in, before you use your account again. If you do not accept it, you can delete your account.

Open points for the lawyer
- The SEBI (Investment Advisers) Regulations, 2013 (reg. 2(1)(m)) and the SEBI (Research Analysts) Regulations, 2014 (reg. 2(1)(u)) turn on “for consideration”. StrikeHike is free today: confirm whether donations, sponsorship or a future paid plan would change that.
- Confirm whether the analytics pages (Greeks, implied volatility, open interest, the payoff calculator) sit within the exclusions in RA reg. 2(1)(w), such as discussion of broad-based indices and statistical summaries.
- SEBI's consultation paper of 6 January 2026 (para. 7) treats live data as outside pure education: confirm that labelling the data pages “information and analytics” is enough.
- Name the courts for section 9, and confirm the limitation of liability under Indian law.
